PLA 3D Printer Filament – Carbon Fiber

This PLA filament is brand new and one of our most popular filaments. Print your new projects with a Carbon Fiber finish. Our filaments have up to 15% Carbon Fiber mixed with the PLA plastic. Due to the composite nature of this filament, care has to be taken when handling it as it is more brittle.

PLA 3D printer filaments are considered to be the environmentally-friendly option in 3D printing.  It’s a fully biodegradable thermoplastic that is made from plants.  As such, it does not give off the powerful fumes commonly associated with ABS filaments and can be safely used indoors.

PLA becomes softer when heated and can provide more accurate details on corners if it is actively cooled.  It is not prone to warping, and can therefore be used without a heated print bed.  Many people prefer to line their unheated print bed with painter’s tape to keep their projects from sticking.  PLA 3D printer filaments can be sanded down and painted with acrylic paints.  It is not recommended, however, to glue multiple pieces together to create larger objects when using PLA filament.  The bonds will not be strong and might be prone to break.  If you’re looking to glue your prints together, please see our large selection of ABS filaments.

This 3D printer filament comes in 1kg packages.  Not sure which colour or gauge will work best for you?  Check out our selection of filament samples, so you can try it out before you commit.
